What in the world is gold-filled?

Gold-filled jewelry is crafted by bonding multiple layers of solid gold to a high-quality jeweler's brass core under extreme heat and pressure. This process creates a thick, durable layer of genuine gold, resulting in a product that is both long-lasting and resilient.

 

What sets gold-filled apart from gold-plated?

Gold-plated jewelry is often the most cost-effective option but comes with limitations in quality. These pieces are prone to chipping or flaking, and there are minimal standards regarding the type of base metal used. In contrast, gold-filled jewelry is significantly more durable and resistant to chipping or flaking. Additionally, the standards for gold-filled products are strictly regulated, ensuring a consistent quality. Gold-plated items, however, can vary widely in gold layer thickness, making it difficult to determine the actual amount of gold used.

Gold-filled, good or not?

Gold-filled jewelry is an excellent alternative to solid gold, offering exceptional quality and durability. It does not flake, discolor, or cause skin irritation, making it a great choice for those with sensitive skin. With proper care, gold-filled pieces can maintain their beauty for a lifetime.

Is gold-filled jewellery good for those with sensitive skin?

Yes, gold-filled jewelry is highly suitable for sensitive skin. Approximately 99.9% of individuals experience no adverse reactions. Since the outer layer is solid 14 or 18k gold, it interacts with your skin in the same way as solid gold. If you have no sensitivities to solid gold, gold-filled jewelry is an excellent choice. 

Is it safe to shower with my Miia & Me jewelry?

Showering can be an effective way to maintain the cleanliness of gold-filled jewelry. However, it is important to use gentle shampoos and soaps, as harsh chemicals may negatively impact the gold's appearance. If there is any uncertainty about the suitability of your products, it is advisable to remove your jewelry before showering..

Is it safe to break a sweat while rocking my Miia & Me bling?

Sure, you can wear your jewelry while working out, but we suggest skipping it to avoid any accidental tugging or pulling during your exercise routine. Better safe than sorry!

Is it just me or is my jewelry throwing a party on my skin? Is this normal?

Our jewelry is crafted from the highest quality materials, so the likelihood of it causing skin irritation is extremely low. However, it’s important to remember that every skin type is unique, and occasional irritation can happen. Unless you have a rare allergy to a specific metal, irritations are typically due to external factors, such as not following proper hygiene when putting on the jewelry,  wearing tight clothing that may rub against it. Other external influences like medications, sweat, perfumes, cleaning products, chlorine, saltwater, and polish can also impact skin reactions, although the chances are very minimal. Because these factors are beyond our control, we cannot be held responsible for any irritation, as we cannot determine the exact cause. 

What is the best way to store my Miia & Me jewellery?

Store your jewelry in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. Use a protective, lined jewelry box or a tarnish-resistant pouch to keep it safe. Avoid storing your jewelry in the bathroom, as the humidity can cause damage over time.

Will my Miia & Me bling come all wrapped up like a present?

All orders will come in a basic Miia & Me pouch.

Ring sizing? What's your vibe?

All of our rings are available in standard US sizes. If you are unsure of your US ring size, we strongly recommend getting sized by a local jeweler. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for determining your ring size. 

Does Miia & Me offer repairs/replacements?

It’s rare, but accidents can unfortunately happen! Luckily, all of our jewellery has a warranty period of 3 months for manufacturing defects. We can offer a repair or a replacement in the case of a faulty product. 

Does Miia & Me ship to PO boxes?

Yes, we do!

It's been a few days and my order still hasn't been dispatched, why?

We are committed to processing all orders as quickly as possible, and in most cases, orders will be processed and made immediately, and will ship out within one (1) to five (5) business days.

Oops! Messed up the shipping address. Now what?

Double-check your shipping address when placing an order to avoid any hiccups! Miia & Me can't take responsibility for address mistakes. If we hear about an issue after the package is on its way, we’ll do our best to work with the shipping carrier to get it back to us. If the package returns, we’ll reach out to you with the option to cover the cost of reshipping to the correct address.
